I had never been to the Mansion on Turner Hill before Emma and Crosby asked me to photograph their wedding there. So in preparation for their wedding day, we met there for site visit in April, and also sneaked in a Get to Know You Portrait Session! When it’s possible to do site visits, I love getting to know a property before I show up for a wedding there. And it’s always fun to explore venues during Get to Know You Sessions, when we have more time and flexibility than we typically have on a wedding day. Usually, couple portraits get about 15 minutes in a wedding-day timeline. Get to Know You Sessions last about an hour, so lots more time for creative and beautiful photos – and to help the couple feel comfortable in front of the camera!
Then July rolled around, and we all met at Turner Hill again, this time for the Big Day! Emma and Crosby chose to do a first look, which meant we could do all of their formal family portraits before the ceremony, too. This freed them up to participate in their whole cocktail hour (which I always recommend!) Their dinner and toasts were in the tent adjacent to the mansion and then the crowd moved inside the mansion for dancing and dessert. It was beautiful and warm and there was so much laughter and happy tears. Turner Hill is a gorgeous backdrop, and even this laid back couple seemed at home in its formality. Congratulations, Emma and Crosby!
