If you’re in the Greater Boston area and you’re looking for a lovely, intimate venue for your small wedding, rehearsal dinner or event, I implore you to check out the Herb Lyceum at Gilson’s in Groton, MA. Way out in the country, the Herb Lyceum is a real working herb farm with acres of gardens and greenhouses, a beautiful lawn, a tent for larger parties, and a restored 19th century carriage house that is an incredible place to host guests for a small dinner.
No, I don’t work there (although it sounds like I do.) I just had the pleasure of photographing a very small wedding there in July and have been smitten every since. The scenery is breathtaking, the food is locally harvested and produced by skilled chefs on site, the carriage house is so darling and quaint, and the place just oozes romance. The wedding I photographed there only had 28 guests, but I know they do larger parties as well. Still, from the beautiful wildflowers to the oak dining tables to the variety of gourmet food, the place just seems built for small, romantic weddings.
Here’s a sampling of my photos of the Herb Lyceum, but you really should see for yourself. And of course if you’re planning an event there, I’d love to talk with you about photographing it. I am looking for any and every chance to go back!
