On Monday, I photographed an event for the Massachusetts Non-Profit Network here in Boston and I am excited to share a few of the photos. MNN is a statewide organization with the goal of building the capacity, strength, and recognition of the non-profit sector throughout Massachusetts. Their members are non-profit groups ranging from homeless shelters to arts organizations to schools and, together, they touch almost everyone in the Commonwealth. Non-profit groups are a huge contributor to the economy of Massachusetts; according to MNN, the non-profit sector employs 16.7% of the workforce in the state and generates $234 billion in annual revenue.
Monday’s event was their annual Non-Profit Awareness Day at the State House, the intention of which is to draw attention to the great work that non-profits are doing everyday and award those that demonstrate excellence in a particular category. The categories were Innovation, Leadership, Collaboration, Advocacy, Board Leadership, Communication, and Young Nonprofit Professional. They also presented an award to the Public Official of the Year, our state Senate President Therese Murray.
I was thrilled to photograph this event again this year (I first photographed it in 2011) and to rub elbows with many of my friends, acquaintances, and clients. I am so inspired by the work of the nonprofit organizations in our communities, and a large part of photography business is dedicated to serving them. Whether it’s event photography, promotional photography, or portraits, I am so honored to serve so many of the nonprofit organizations in the Boston area. I see working with MNN as an extension of, and a compliment to, my photography work with nonprofit organizations.
Okay, enough blabbering! Here are some photos of the reception, the award winners, the speakers, and the wonderful energy in the room that day. Congratulations to all of the amazing organizations who were recognized that day for their great work.
