Last weekend, Maren and Nick had a beautiful wedding at the Farmington Club in Farmington, CT. The day was gorgeous – not a cloud in the sky. I always get a little pre-wedding jitters, so I got there a little early to walk around and get some shots of the flowers and table settings. I grew up right near Farmington, CT and spent much of my childhood riding horses at a barn right next door to the Farmington Club, so it was glorious to be there and just absorb all of the memories. It’s only 2 hours from Boston, but it feels like a world away…
Anyway, I walked around the grounds for awhile and noticed that there still wasn’t a ton of foliage in the gardens! I forgot that Northwest CT is a good 3 weeks behind Boston when it comes to blooming flowers and the changes of the seasons. But still, the gardens were pristine and manicured and the lawn looked beautiful and the trees were all budded, so I knew it would be gorgeous. The bride arrived with her entourage well before the groom and his groomsmen, giving us some extra time for photos of the ladies.
Their ceremony was held at the gazebo outside in the bright sunshine. We did a slew of formal photos while the guests cocktailed and then we headed inside for intros, dances, two very touching toasts, and a few tears. After dinner, Maren and Nick and their guests danced the night away.
