Over Labor Day weekend, I photographed a wedding at the Milton Hoosic Club, which (in their words) is “a family oriented neighborhood Country Club whose history dates back to 1891.” This Boston wedding photographer has been a lot of places, but I was a little embarrassed to admit that the historic Hoosic Club is less than 6 miles from my house and I had never been there! I am so glad that Mary & Jason introduced me to it. The Hoosic Club has a lovely ballroom, an expansive lawn, a beautiful patio and several small function rooms that were the perfect wedding venue for Mary & Jason.
I photographed the bride getting ready in a small room outside of the ballroom while the groom waited outside – anxiously, I am sure! I love doing this “first look,” when one half of the couple waits and then the other half comes out and they see each other for the first time! It’s the surprise, the excitement, the anticipation, and then the “I can’t believe how great you look!” expression, the tears, and then the laughter – it’s magical. Mary & Jason had their first look outside in the lawn and afterwards, we did all of their group family photos, which is my favorite way to go. You get them done before the ceremony and the couple can relax and enjoy their day from there on out without the pressure of having to corral their families.
The ceremony was outdoors as well, and thank goodness the weather held off. We did hear some distant thunder and it got quite gray at one point, but no rain! The ceremony was beautiful and sweet, as they usually are. Cocktails were on the patio followed by toasts, dinner and dancing in the ballroom. Just a beautiful day!

My passion is to make beautiful wedding photos that document the romance and magic of the wedding day without interfering in the celebration. My goal is to make natural-looking photos that tell a romantic story of two people in love – not to sell bridal magazines. I especially love working with couples planning non-traditional weddings, same-sex couples, and anyone who wants beautiful photos of their day without breaking the bank!
