Happy New Year!
I love the mark of the New Year as a chance to start fresh. As overwhelming as it can be to start a brand new year, it’s also a clean slate. Like getting a new cookbook that hasn’t yet been stained with sauce and oil. Or maybe that just has to do with how I cook.
Anyway, speaking of fresh starts, when was the last time you had a professional corporate portrait or headshot taken for your LinkeIn profile, your business website, your social networking sites? If you spend any time on the Internet at all, then you know that it’s full of images – maybe even more images than words! So yes, you NEED a headshot for your website and social media profiles. But not just any photo – the quality of your portrait on your website should reflect you, your brand, and your personality.
I think corporate portraits and headshots are best taken on location, like at your office, at a park, in a library, or in a place that tells the story of your business, your work, and your persona. I like to spend an hour with people working on their photo – it sounds like a long time, but you’d be surprised at how quickly a one-hour portrait session can do. We shoot, we look at the images on the computer, we make changes, and we shoot again. The result is a corporate headshot in which you look comfortable, natural, real, kind, professional, smart, savvy, and whatever other adjective you want.
Don’t wait another year to update your corporate headshot. A great, professional-looking headshot is an investment in yourself, your business, and your career. And with the right photographer, your headshot session can even be fun. Imagine that!
