You Need a New Photo on LinkedIn

I have to tell you something, and you aren’t going to like it.

You are using an outdated photo on your LinkedIn profile.

No, I haven’t looked specifically at your profile, but I know from experience that most people keep headshots on LinkedIn way past their expiration date.

I know, I know, you like that one of you from 5 years ago. I do, too! But you have changed, your business has changed, and it’s time to redo that old portrait of yours so that you can properly sell your product, yourself, and your business to all of those millions of prospective clients on the web.

Most people are severely uncomfortable with having their photo taken. But instead of focusing on your discomfort, remind yourself that your business portrait is one of the most important tools in telling the story of you and your business. Your prospective customers and employers want to know you! They want to know if they can trust you. And seeing your face is one way to let them know you are trustworthy, approachable, and available for them. (They do want to see you; LinkedIn reports that profiles with photos get at least 2x more clicks than profiles without photos.)

Professional portraits are easy and painless when done by a photographer who cares about your experience. I take time to get to know my portrait clients, hear about their business, explain the process, review their photos with them in real time, change outfits, and look through an online gallery of their favorite photos before they choose THE ONE. (Also retouching is always complimentary!)

I have a simple background and nice lighting. All you need are clothes that fit well and and a good attitude. (And I have tons more tips including how to prepare, what to wear and how to pose, too!)

Sessions are 15 minutes to an hour, depending on what you’re looking for and how many different images you need. Stop obsessing over your wrinkles and let’s get started (jump over to my contact page to get in touch with me). 700 million people are on LinkedIn and they’re waiting to see you shine.
