On a beautiful, cool day in mid-August I made the trip from Boston to Branford, CT for Brad and Henny’s seaside wedding. I am based in Boston, but grew up in Connecticut, so I am always happy to make the trip to my homestate for photography or most anything else! On this day, I arrived a little bit early and took some time to walk around the grounds before meeting up with Henny and her entourage!
The Owenego Inn is a beautiful location for a wedding – and for wedding photos. It is right on Long Island Sound, and Brad & Henny had their ceremony overlooking the water. Afterwards, we took photos on the lovely lawn and also ventured down to the beach for a few snapshots in the late afternoon sun. Cocktails were on the patio and after a few tearful and joyful toasts, a plated dinner was served at tables inside the Inn. I exclaimed to the chefs several times that it was the BEST wedding food I have ever eaten – and I eat a lot of wedding food! It was delicious! The dance floor was decorated with simple white lights, proving that even without dramatic uplighting, the photos come out beautifully. Finally, Brad and Henny shared a gourmet cupcake – chocolate raspberry or mojito maybe? – and danced the night away.
One of the things I love about wedding and engagement photography is coming across so many beautiful locations for weddings and portraits. Since I don’t have a studio, I am always out and about, finding little nooks and crannies where we can make beautiful photos. The Owenego Inn did not disappoint – one of my new favorite places!
