The Maxwell Twins

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of photographing the Maxwell twins, born almost one year ago to an acquaintance from my Connecticut high school and her darling husband.  All babies are adorable, but there is something so special about twins.   Having two babies and two parents in the frame adds so much to the pictures.  We had a great time.

I always shoot family portraits in a documentary style.  There is no “backdrop,” there is very little posing and I use almost all natural light.  We play, we laugh, they snuggle, the kids cry and whine, the parents get spit up on and all of the beautiful imperfections of parenthood and babies are photographed and celebrated.  At the Maxwell home, we went from room to room, experimenting with the different color patterns and furniture, watching how the light came through the windows, playing with the babies and me shooting the whole time.  The results are so sweet, so natural, so perfectly normal that I just love looking at them and their everyday beauty.  The pictures below, where the family (all dressed in blue) is sitting on the bed with the blue comforter and pillows, are some of my favorites.  If you or someone you know is looking for some unique and natural-looking family portraits, please give me a call!
