Last week, I was honored to be the official event photographer at the opening reception for the Honorary Consulate of Estonia right here in West Roxbury – my own backyard! They newly appointed Honorary Consul is a super lady who is so warm, friendly, and kind that I know she’ll be a wonderful support to the Estonian community in Boston and throughout Eastern Massachusetts. The reception featured the usual mingling and then a series of short speeches. Among the dignitaries in attendance were the Estonian Ambassador Marina Kalijurand (whom we refer to as “Her Excellency,” which is really cool), Boston City Councillor Matt O’Malley, State Representative Ed Coppinger, Estonian General Consul Sten Schwede, and many other consuls representing countries around the world.
For political and official events of this nature, my photographs are going to be historical documents, part of the record of the Estonian Consulate in Boston. What a fantastic honor, to have my photographs be worthy of a note in the history books – even a small one.
