Cupcake Photography

I am very excited to be talking with a baker and a publisher about doing the photography for an upcoming cupcake cookbook!  I have sent them my contract, we are working out the licensing and all of the other details, and hopefully will begin shooting soon.  I actually have a surprising amount of experience with photographing cupcakes, so in honor of this new possibility, here are a few of my favorite cupcake photographs from the recent past.

For a dutch baker i also gonna make photo’s of cakes. I like the nice photo’s you made! Which lens did you use? I have a canon 24-70 2.8 and a 5d mark 2. I wanna get the canon 100 2.8 macro.

    thank you!

Chris, thanks for the compliments! I would definitely encourage you to get the 100mm 2.8 macro. I use a 50mm 2.8 which I love. I often think a slightly longer lens would be even better, though. You may find 100mm is a bit too long; 70 is the minimum I think every food photographer should have! And the macro will give you lots of flexibility for those closeup shots. Good luck!
